Two teenagers charged with attempted murder after young man shot and stabbed in Dagenham

Detectives have charged two teenagers after a 19-year-old victim was stabbed and shot in east London.

The pair, both 17, were arrested in Kent on Friday and have been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been remanded in custody to appear in court on Monday.

Police were scrambled to Whalebone Lane South in Dagenham at about 5.20pm on Thursday following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Shortly after the initial alert a second call was received from a member of the public reporting gunshots heard in the area.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found the victim with what appeared to be stab injuries. He was taken to hospital where it was confirmed that he had been stabbed and also shot.

He remains in hospital fighting for his life.

His next of kin has been informed.

Five men and a woman, aged between 18 and 25 years old, had previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident) are leading the investigation.
