Two teenagers arrested after Manchester Victoria Station tram stop stabbing

Two teenagers have been arrested after a stabbing at the Victoria Station tram stop.

A huge emergency services presence was sparked and a police cordon was in place after the stabbing last night (Wednesday).

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital from the city centre station after the attack.

He remains in a stable condition.

Police have now confirmed in an update that two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

The 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old male remain in custody where they are being quizzed by detectives.

The force said the stabbing was an 'isolated incident' and 'there is no threat to the wider community'.

In a tweet posted last night, city centre councillor Pat Karney said there had been a 'fight' on a tram before the incident.

"Thanks to Emergency Services for attending Victoria Station tonight", he said.

"A fight took place on a tram.

"A male in hospital undergoing urgent treatment. Shocking behaviour."
