Two teenagers arrested after boy slashed across the face with knife at south Manchester Park

Two teenagers have been arrested after a 13-year-old boy was slashed across the face with a knife.

The schoolboy suffered a serious injury above his eye after being attacked in Whitworth Park shortly before 4pm on Thursday.

His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

Two boys - aged 13 and 16 - have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Both have been released on bail.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "On Thursday 21 November 2019, shortly before 4pm police were called to reports of a 13-year old boy that had been injured with a knife at Whitworth Park in Manchester.

"Upon arrival, officers discovered the boy had sustained a serious knife injury above his eye. The injury is not believed to be life threatening or life changing, and he is receiving medical attention and support from his family.

"Two youths – aged 16 and 13 - have been arrested for Section 18 assault, and following interview both have been released on bail for continued enquiries."
