Two teenagers arrested after 19 year old stabbed in street fight

A teenager was stabbed in a street fight on a busy Liverpool road.

The 19-year-old suffered chest and back wounds in a brawl on Rice Lane in Walton .

Two boys, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Emergency services were called to Rice Lane following reports of a fight near the junction with Rawcliffe Road at around 8.15pm.

Ambulance workers discovered the victim with knife wounds to his chest and back and he was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police have arrested a 17-year-old from Manchester and an 18-year-old from Fazakerley on suspicion of Section 18 wounding.

They have been taken to separate police stations for questioning.

A section of footpath on Rice Lane, at its junction with Fazakerley Road and opposite Rawcliffe Road, was cordoned off by police tonight.

Forensics officers examined the small area, which stretched the length of three closed shops, while officers carried out door to door enquires.

Appealing for information, Detective Inspector Jennie Beck, said: "At this early stage we want to hear from anyone in the area who saw, or heard a disturbance, at the junction of Rice Lane and Rawcliffe Road.

“We believe there may have been a group of males fighting who then made off on foot, if you have any information which could help us identify those involved please call us.

"You can contact us directly, or call Crimestoppers anonymously, and we will ensure your information is dealt with sensitively and acted upon. We know that violent crime causes fear and risk in our communities, and working together we can remove those who choose to carry weapons from where you live, work and visit."
