Two teenagers arrested in connection with aggravated burglary at home near Listowel, Co Kerry

Two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary in Co Kerry.

Two men, both in their 20s, received serious injuries after their home in Dromin near Listowel was broken into.

It's believed two males "armed with hammers" entered the house before allegedly assaulting the occupants in the early hours on Sunday morning.

On Wednesday, armed gardai arrested two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17.

The pair are being held at Listowel and Ballybunion garda stations.

A garda spokesman said: "On Sunday at approximately 12:30am two males entered a house in the Dromin area of Listowel, Co. Kerry, allegedly armed with hammers.

"Two male occupants of the house, aged in their 20s and 30s, were assaulted receiving serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"The injured males received medical treatment at the scene. Criminal damage was also caused to the house and to a car parked outside the house as part of this incident.

"Gardaí assisted by the Armed Support Unit arrested two juvenile males in the Listowel area."
