Two teenage girls were taken to hospital following a crash in Failsworth.
The smash happened on Propps Hall Drive shortly before 6:30pm on Monday evening.
The road was closed from the junctions with Greaves Avenue to Malborough Drive whilst emergency services dealt with the incident, said to have involved three vehicles.
Eyewitnesses said a black Vauxhall Corsa and a Silver Skoda, believed to be a private hire car, were visible at the scene and had both been left with extensive damage.
Paramedics attended and confirmed they took two teenage patients, including one with a serious head injury, to hospital for treatment.
A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "We responded to a call at 18:18 involving an RTC and have attended with two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.
"We have taken two patients to hospital, both teenage girls, one with a serious head injury and another with a back injury."
It is not yet known if any arrests were made.
The Manchester Evening News has contacted Greater Manchester Police (GMP) for comment.
Fire crews also attended.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Propps Hall Drive, in Failsworth, at 6.23pm on Monday, 4 January.
“One fire engine from Hollins quickly attended the scene.
“The collision involved two vehicles.
"Firefighters made the scene safe and were in attendance for around two hours.”
The road was closed for several hours with motorist being urged to avoid the area before it re-opened shortly after 9:30pm.
