Two teenage boys attacked and robbed while playing badminton in Epsom park

Two teenage boys were attacked and robbed while playing badminton in a Surrey park.

The victims, both aged 14, were playing in the Warren Recreation Ground in Epsom when they were approached by two shirtless men, believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.

The suspects launched a tirade of verbal abuse at the two boys. One of the men punched a boy in head, before grabbing his headphones and running off them.

A passer-by stopped him and gave the headphones back to the victim.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack, which took place between 8pm and 8.15pm on May 27.

The two suspects, who were both white, were last seen in Epsom Downs at around 9.30pm that night. They may have been with a woman, police said.

One had a tattoo on the inside of his right arm and was wearing a baseball cap, black shorts with a red stripe and white trainers.

The other suspects was wearing black paint-spattered tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Officers have asked anyone who may know who the suspects are, or witnessed this incident and have information which could help them, to call 101 and quote ref PR/45200054794.

Anyone who wants to remain anonymous can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
