Two taken to hospital following multi-vehicle rush hour collision on the M50

Two people were taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle rush hour collision on the M50.

The crash happened at around 6pm on Tuesday evening heading southbound between Junction 5 Finglas and Junction 6 Blanchardstown.

Emergency services raced to the scene with long delays reported on the motorway.

Traffic was reportedly backed up to the M1 with gardai advising motorists to use alternative routes if possible.

The road was fully reopened about an hour later.

Dublin Fire Brigade shared pictures of the significant damage done to two of the cars.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live two people were taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital following the incident where they were treated for minor injuries.
