Two taken to hospital after A725 crash involving van and car

Two people were rushed to hospital following a serious crash involving a car and a van on the A725 this morning.

Emergency crews raced to the scene on the southbound carriageway, leading to the M74 Raith carriageway, at around 8:50am. The road was closed for over an hour as crews attended the incident.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "At around 8:50am, we received a report of a road crash involving a car and a van on the A725 near the Bellshill roundabout. Emergency services are in attendance and two people have been taken to hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
