Two suspected gunmen named as men remain in custody

Two suspected gunmen have been named as police keep three men in custody.

Cheshire Police received a call at 6.59pm on Tuesday, October 4, reporting a disturbance at a home on Hatton Road in Blacon. It was reported men were making threats to occupants at an address in the area.

As part of ongoing enquiries into the incident, four men were arrested. A 40-year-old man from Warrington was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence on October 13, and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Three other men have since been charged and named by Cheshire Police. Jay Roberts, 30, of Nelson Road, Ellesmere Port was arrested on October 5 and later charged with two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He appeared at Chester Magistrates on October 7 and was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on November 4. Gerard Bailey, 51, of Malvern Road, St Helens was arrested on October 7 and later charged with two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

He appeared at Chester Magistrates on October 8 and was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on November 4. Anthony Moorcroft, 52, of Eleanor Road, Bidston was arrested on October 12 and later charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He appeared at Chester Magistrates on October 14 and was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on November 11.
