Two surfers pulled from water by helicopter in dramatic rescue off Sligo coast

Two surfers were pulled from the water by helicopter in a dramatic rescue off the Sligo coast this evening.

Footage from the area shows a rescue helicopter pulling the men on board amid fierce waves.

It is understood that the two surfers got into difficulty when they were pulled into a rip current.

The incident happened in the Enniscrone area at around 7pm on Saturday evening.

A Coast Guard helicopter was rushed to the scene as local crews tried to offer assistance.
