Corey Norman could be on his way to Super League with both Wigan Warriors and Catalans Dragons circling the halfback.
Rugby League Live understands the two clubs have made enquiries about the playmaker, who has been informed that he will not be offered a new contract by St George Illawarra Dragons at the end of the year.
Norman has spoken openly about his future in recent weeks, admitting there were no current offers on the table.
Back in June, the 30-year-old told Sporting News: “Obviously I know my big paydays are been and gone now so it isn't even about the money anymore.
“I’m not really worried about it, I’m not too fussed. I just need to play good football and the rest will sort itself out.
“We’ll see what happens in the next couple of weeks and go forward from there.”
Though Norman is understood to be keen to stay in the NRL, talks have now opened with Super League clubs that has seen both the Dragons and the Warriors show interest, though nothing has been agreed or finalised with either club at this stage.
Wigan's interest is hardly a surprise given the incoming departure of Jackson Hastings, who will join Wests Tigers at the end of the season. Meanwhile Tommy Leuluai's future also remains unclear, with the New Zealand international off-contract and now 36.
Meanwhile, there remains uncertainty surrounding the future of James Maloney in Perpignan.
The Dragons have an option in their favour to extend Maloney's deal by an extra 12 months, though the club has yet to confirm that they have triggered his extension.
Norman is currently in his 12th season in the NRL having previously played for Brisbane Broncos and Parramatta Eels. In total he has made 223 appearances in the competition and represented Queensland in 2019.
Despite being told he can leave, Normal has been praised for his improved performances this year, playing 17 times for the Dragons in total.
