BRIEF: Two stores robbed on Northwest Side in past two weeks

Dec. 25--Police are warning residents on the Northwest Side of two store robberies during the past two weeks.

The two incidents occurred in the Belmont Gardens neighborhood on Tuesday and in the Logan Square neighborhood on Dec. 17, according to police.

In the latest robbery, a Hispanic man entered a store in the 2100 block of North Hamlin Avenue around 7:06 p.m., displayed a gun and demanded money. The man is 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, and 130 to 160 pounds, according to police. The man covered his face with a dark bandana and wore a black or blue hooded sweatshirt.

The second incident happened around 5 p.m. in the 4200 block of West Fullerton Avenue, about a mile from the earlier robbery.

A Hispanic man walked into the store in that block, implied that he had a weapon and demanded money. He is described as 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, and about 150 pounds. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and covered his face with a red scarf.
