Two Somerset men die in Costa Blanca after falling 30 feet 'attempting to take photo'

Two Somerset men have died after falling 30 feet in an attempt "to take a photo" in Costa Blanca.

Daniel Mee, Jayden Dolman and Lewis Higgins were seen after 7pm on Wednesday night (July 3) stood near a set of steps and a lift leading to Punta Prima beach.

Local reports suggest the group were attempting to take a photograph before two men fell, reports Somerset Live.

Mr Mee is said to have fallen between 20-30ft and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Mr Dolman was airlifted to Alicante General Hospital with multiple traumatic injuries and later died in hospital.

Mr Higgins was taken to Torrevieja Hospital after suffering a panic attack.

All three men are understood to come from Bridgwater.

A source at a regional government-run emergency coordination centre said: "Two ambulances were mobilised along with a medicalised helicopter.

"The alarm was raised at 7.15pm on Wednesday.

"A man was taken to Alicante General Hospital with multiple trauma injuries, including head injuries.

"A man was taken to Torrevieja Hospital after suffering a panic attack.

"The dead man was pronounced dead at the scene. Medical responders did everything they could to revive him, including practising CPR, but were unable to save him."

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it is supporting the men's families and assisting Spanish authorities with their investigations.

He said: "We are supporting the families of two British men following their deaths in Alicante, and are in contact with the Spanish authorities.

"Another British man was involved in the accident, and we are also providing assistance."
