Shots were fired at a house in what police have described as a 'targeted' gun attack.

Police were scrambled to the scene of the shooting in Cheetham Hill on Saturday night.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to reports of gunshots in the Cheetham Hill area at 8.55pm on Saturday night.

The force said 'evidence of two gunshots aimed at an address on Heath Street' was later confirmed.

No injuries have been reported.

GMP said no arrests have been made so far and enquiries were continuing.

Heath Street runs off Cheetham Hill Roads towards Higher Broughton.

Reports from the scene suggested Hyman Goldstone Walk was also part of the cordon.

Police tape stretches across the area and detectives were pictured at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses (Manchester Evening News)

The attack is the latest shooting incident in the Cheetham Hill area and the Manchester Evening News has previously reported fears over the eruption of a gun war between two crime gangs in the area.

The root cause of the violence is thought to be a dispute over drugs territory and several young men have been shot.

Whether Saturday night's attack is linked to any other previous incident hasn't been confirmed by the force.

In the statement to the M.E.N., GMP said the shooting was believed to be a 'targeted incident'.

The force has issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesman said: "Police were called at around 8.55pm on Saturday 12 September 2020 to reports of gunshots in the Cheetham Hill area.

"Officers attended and confirmed evidence of two gunshots aimed at an address on Heath Street.

"No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

"Enquiries are ongoing but this is believed to have been a targeted incident."

Anyone with information is being asked to call 0161 856 1146 quoting incident number 2944 of 12/09/2020.

GMp said details could also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
