Two sheep turn up in Perth city street

A sheep and her lamb turned up on a street corner in Tulloch, Perth at the weekend - over 50 miles from their home.

The pair were enclosed in a city garden after being found wandering.

In an attempt to find the owner of the livestock, Missing Pets Perth and Kinross posted a picture of the ewe and lamb, discovered on the Crieff Road at the junction leading into Tulloch.

After the ear tags were checked, it was discovered that the pair were from a farm in the Gorebridge area, near Edinburgh.

It is unclear how they came to be in Perth.

The Missing Pets Facebook page made efforts to get to the bottom of what the pair were doing in the Fair City and online, page followers expressed their hope that the lamb and its mum would get home safe.

Later that day the animals were transported back to Mid Lothian.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were contacted on Sunday, March 28 following a report of a possible theft of two sheep which were found in Perth.

“Enquiries are currently being conducted into this with the animals believed to have been taken from the Gorebridge area.

“Police enquiries are continuing.”

The Missing Pets Facebook page said: “We would urge all farmers and shepherds to keep a very close eye on their livestock for any further suspicious activity."
