Two Scottish beaches named in UK top 10 according to Google reviews

Everyone knows that Scotland has some incredible beaches, and it appears Google users agree as two of Scotland's most popular have been named in the UK top 10 of the site's reviewer rankings.

Holidu, the search engine for holiday rentals, gathered over 550,000 Google Reviews for over 650 beaches in the UK, creating a list of the most breathtaking British beaches to visit this summer.

With Scotland's summer still serving up the odd sunny day and with uncertainty surrounding travel abroad still looming, more people are looking to explore the country's own golden sands.

Mellon Udrigle Beach in the Highlands and Machir Bay on Islay received an average rating of 4.9 stars as they made it into the top 10.

The northernmost beach in the list, Mellon Udrigle is tucked away up on the northwest coast near to the village of Laide.

Remote and stunning, the white sands offer unrivalled views of Suilven, the mountains of Coigach and even the top of Stac Pollaidh.

Located on the west coast of Islay, the incredible beach at Machir Bay is perfect for some incredible sunsets and a bit of dolphin spotting. Even better, it's located close to the Kilchoman Distillery meaning you can stop in for a dram.

Traeth Mwnt in Cardigan, Wales, took the top spot, with its unspoiled beaches and cliff top walks proving hugely popular with British beach-goers.
