Two scooter riders seriously injured after crashing into lamppost

Two people have been seriously injured after an electric scooter crashed into a lamppost.

The accident happened on Sunday, October 17 on Cromwell Road in Ellesmere Port.

Police said they were alerted shortly before 5pm to reports of a collision involving two scooters, with one crashing into a lamp post.

Three ambulances, an air ambulance, an advanced paramedic, a response vehicle and an operational commander were sent to the scene as the road was completely closed to traffic.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Cheshire Police said three people and two scooters were involved in the crash. The scooter that crashed into the lamp post is believed to have been ridden by two people at the same time.

Cheshire Police said one man was taken to Aintree Hospital with injuries to his leg.

Another man is said to have suffered head and foot injuries, while a third person suffered only minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "Shortly before 5pm on Sunday 17 October police were called to a collision on Cromwell Road in Ellesmere Port.

"The collision involved two scooters with one colliding with a lamp post.

"One male was taken to Aintree Hospital by land ambulance with injuries to his leg."

They confirmed a second man was taken to Countess of Cheshire Hospital.
