Two schoolgirls ‘seriously injured’ after being knocked down by car on busy Glasgow road

Two schoolgirls have suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car on a busy Glasgow road.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Duke Street at around 4.45pm on Thursday, November 19, after a vehicle collided with the children, both aged 13.

Both youngsters were rushed to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children for treatment of their serious but not life threatening injuries.

Police locked down the road near the Forge shopping centre for two and a half hours to allow for accident investigation work.

A force spokesman said: “Police were called around 4.45pm on Thursday, 19 November, 2020 following the report of a car colliding with two children on Duke Street, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and two 13-year-old girls were taken to Royal Hospital for Children with serious but not life threatening injuries.

“The road was closed for around two and a half hours.”
