Two SA police face criminal charges after ICAC probe

Andrew Jaunay was one of two serving police officers who faced the court.

Two South Australian police officers remain on official duties despite facing assault charges after an investigation by the state's corruption watchdog, Adelaide Magistrates Court has heard.

Long-serving officers Andrew Allan Jaunay, 46, of Morphettville and Sean Gregory Hobbs, 30, of Torrensville will contest the charges, which were laid back in May, the court was told.

Hobbs is charged with aggravated committing assault that causes harm and Jaunay is accused of an aggravated count of committing assault.

In a statement, the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Bruce Lander said the charges amounted to corruption under the ICAC Act.

The offending is alleged to have happened at Whyalla in 2013 against a 17-year-old boy.

The court was told both police officers remained on duty but had been ordered by their employer not to speak with each other or to any potential witnesses.

Details of the alleged offending were not outlined in court, other than that self-defence was not an issue.

The case was adjourned for negotiations and listed for a return to court in September.
