Two S&P 500 Giants And Tesla's Main Rival Lead 5 Stocks In Buy Areas

S&P 500 components Booking Holdings and Boston Scientific lead the five stocks in focus for this week's stock market along with Tesla rival BYDLandBridge and Heico are also stocks to watch.

The stock market has entered a power trend, signifying an especially strong rally. A power trend is not be a buy signal, but it's time to be especially invested and more willing to hold aggressive growth plays. It's a time to be a little more confident and aggressive, but not reckless.

Investors should look for laggards in their portfolio to make room for new buys or make add-on entries to winners. These five stocks are all trading right around buy points and investors can add them to watchlists.

Investors can also keep tabs on the IBD Leaderboard watchlist, the IBD 50 list of top growth stocks and IBD SwingTrader along with the IBD Sector Leaders list.

BYD Stock

Shares of BYDDF advanced 12.1% to 55.76 in last week's stock market action, marching above a traditional buy point from a cup-with-handle base.

BYD stock rallied 3.9% on Friday, hitting a record high and closing the high end of the buy zone from the 53.35 entry, according to MarketSurge chart analysis. The buy area runs to 56.02

The Chinese EV and battery giant, the world's largest, boasts booming profit growth. In 2022, BYD's vehicle sales raced ahead of Tesla's and are now well more than twice as high, three times as much in Q4 2024. For all-battery electric vehicles (BEVs), BYD has seized the crown in the past two quarters.

BYD reported April sales of 380,089, up 0.7% vs. March and 21.3% vs. a year earlier. The EV giant is shifting from older models to newer EVs, which have driver-assist systems standard. Overseas sales hit a record for a fifth straight month, at 79,086.

Tesla Keeps Running While Rival Breaks Out To New High

Notably, BYD's BEV sales outpaced PHEV sales for the first time since January 2024. BEV sales grew 45.8% vs. a year earlier to 195,740.

BYD stock is up 64.6% in 2025 amid booming growth.

For its part, Tesla stock soared more than 17% to 349.98 last week, though it's still down 13.3% so far in 2025. TSLA is now well above an aggressive entry around the 200-day line. While earnings are tumbling and deliveries faltering, investors are focusing on robotaxi bets and other moon shots.

BYD does not have a Composite Rating. However, the Tesla rival does have a robust 97 Relative Strength Rating and a 99 EPS Rating.

Stocks To Buy And Watch: Top IPOs, Big And Small Caps, Growth Stocks

S&P 500: Booking. Yeah.

Booking stock advanced 4.8% last week to 5,317.07, moving above a 5,250 handle buy point on a five-month consolidation. Investors also could use the top of the base, at 5,337.24 as an alternate entry.

Booking Holdings is the parent of Booking.com, Priceline and OpenTable, among other brands. The S&P 500 stock is ahead about 42% from 12 months ago and up 7% in 2025. That includes a 7.4% gain since Booking Holdings reported a first-quarter earnings beat late last month, despite concerns about tariffs and broader economic uncertainty weighing on travel demand.

Booking's first-quarter earnings increased 22% year-over-year to $24.81 per share while sales increased 8% to $4.8 billion. Both results beat analyst expectations. Booking stock was negative in after-hours trading following the April 29 report but recovered to a 4% gain in regular trading the next day.

Best IBD 50 Stocks To Watch

One advantage for Booking Holdings is that it derives the majority of its revenue from Europe. U.S.-focused online travel companies Expedia Group and Airbnb called out weakness in American travel demand during their respective first quarter reports in recent weeks.

The S&P 500 giant was also IBD's Stock Of The Day on Wednesday and was recently added to IBD's SwingTrader.

Booking stock has a 94 Composite Rating. The S&P 500 component has a 91 Relative Strength Rating and a 97 EPS Rating.

Heico Stock

HEI gained 5.5% to 278.75 in the week's stock market trade, breaking above a 272.46 buy point from a cup-with-handle base, according to MarketSurge charts. That base is next to or within a prior consolidation with a 283.60 entry.

The 71 stocks in the IBD-tracked Aerospace/Defense industry group have collectively gained 9.9% in 2025. The sector ranks a strong fourth out of the 197 industries.

Heico makes and services aircraft equipment, serving the majority of the world's airlines and overhaul shops. It also works with multiple defense and space companies and militaries worldwide, in addition to some health care and electronics manufacturers.

The stock shot up nearly 14% in more than double its average volume Feb. 27 after the January-quarter report blew by expectations. Heico earned $1.20 a share, well above the consensus of 95 cents and the highest estimate of $1.04, according to FactSet. Sales of $1.03 billion exceeded expectations for $979.7 million.

U.S. Debt Rating Downgrade Hits QQQ Late After Big Market Week

The company's Flight Support Group saw quarterly operating income rise 22% on 15% higher net sales vs. the year-ago quarter. Aftermarket replacement parts and repair and overhaul parts and services saw strong results. Acquisitions are bearing fruit, too.

Earnings growth accelerated from 16% to 31%, 34% and 39% the past few quarters, according to IBD MarketSurge. Sales growth has slowed, however, from 44% to 39%, 37%, 8% and 15% the past five quarters.

Heico stock has a perfect 99 Composite Rating. The shares also boast a 90 Relative Strength Rating and a 95 EPS Rating.

LandBridge Stock

The stock advanced 5.2% on Friday, part of a 20.4% gain on the week, to 84.50, moving above the 84.21 buy point after clearing some early entries or resistant points.

LandBridge owns and leases acreage in the energy-rich Permian Basin, but is gearing up to be a data center play as well. Headquartered in Houston, LandBridge owns more than 273,000 acres spread across West Texas and southeastern New Mexico in the Permian Basin.

It leases that land primarily for oil and natural gas development. But the property also includes systems for water and solid waste recycling, as well as solar power generation and storage.

In November 2024, just months after its June IPO, Landbridge signed a lease development agreement with an unknown entity for the development of a data center and related facilities on about 2,000 acres.

In December, LandBridge received an $8 million deposit from an unnamed client. That money is for a two-year site selection period, the company reported, with the potential for a data center to be constructed within four years. That suggests that large-scale data centers could be up and running in the Permian Basin before the end of the decade, turning dusty West Texas into a burgeoning tech Mecca.

On March 6, LandBridge Chief Executive Jason Long underscored for investors that data centers were a key piece of the company's "surface acreage" strategy. That strategy aims to generate added revenue from properties below which the oil industry fracks away in pursuit of the Permian Basin's hydrocarbons.

"The rapid development of AI and related need for data centers, among other high-computing power demands such as crypto mining, will continue to require access to cheap power and water for cooling," Long said on the company's fourth-quarter earnings call. "Our acreage in West Texas is well-positioned to support these requirements, and we remain actively engaged in seeking potential opportunities with these interested parties."

LandBridge stock has a 92 Composite Rating along with a 98 Relative Strength Rating and an 81 EPS Rating.

S&P 500: Boston Scientific Stock

Boston Scientific gained 3.1% on the week to 106.04, moving above a 104.35 double-bottom base buy point and a 105.74 as a handle entry.

The S&P 500 company topped first-quarter earnings and sales estimates April 23. It also raised its full-year 2025 profit outlook to a range of $2.87 to $2.94 per share, and now expects net sales to increase 15% to 17%.

The outlook includes an expected $200 million impact from tariffs. Boston Scientific is trying to offset that through sales upside and reductions in discretionary spending. The company said it just opened a new site in Georgia and plans to expand its footprint in Minnesota.

However, tariffs are expected to squeeze the company's adjusted gross margin. Farapulse and Watchman growth have helped bolster the margin, which was 71.5% in the first quarter. Three months ago, Boston said gross margin would improve this year. Now, it's expected to be in line with last year's. In 2024, gross margin was 70.3%.

Sales of electrophysiology tools — which treat abnormal heart rhythms and includes Farapulse — grew 145% organically to $730 million. Analysts projected a significantly lower $647.4 million. U.S. sales grew 225%, Evercore's Kumar said. Watchman sales also climbed 24% to $425 million, above forecasts for $414.8 million. Watchman sales also accelerated in the U.S.

Analyst projections show 2025 per-share earnings of $2.92, or 16% growth. For 2026, Boston Scientific's earnings are expected to increase 13% to $3.29 per share.

The S&P 500 stock has a 98 Composite Rating along with a 90 Relative Strength Rating and a 96 EPS Rating.

Boston Scientific is on IBD Leaderboard.
