Two rushed to hospital after three-vehicle crash outside Covid test centre in Co Louth

Two people have been taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash in Co Louth at the weekend.

The incident happened on the Kells Road in Ardee at 5.25pm on Sunday evening.

Local radio station LMFM reported the crash happened outside HSE's St. Brigid's campus, which is being used as a Covid-19 test centre.

No serious injuries were reported but two of the drivers were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.

Gardai closed the road for a short period after the crash but it has since reopened.

A garda spokesperson said: 'Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles that occurred at approximately 5.25pm on Sunday, 28th November, 2021, on the N52 Kells Road in Ardee, County Louth.

'No serious injuries were reported although two of the drivers were taken to hospital.

'Garda enquiries are ongoing.'
