Two rushed to hospital after car crashes into wall off A80 road

A man and a woman have been taken to hospital following a car crash on a Scots road.

Emergency crews were called to the A80 Cumbernauld Road, near Chryston in North Lanarkshire, around 7.40am on Wednesday following the collision involving one vehicle.

Police confirmed the road remains closed for collision investigation to be carried out at the scene.

Pictures show three police cars blocking off one side of the dual carriageway and one car wedged between a wall and pedestrian pavement at the side of the road.

One passer-by described seeing the car in an “awful state.”

Details on the severity of injuries are not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the A80 Cumbernauld Road at around 7.40am on Wednesday, 1 December, 2021 following a road crash involving one vehicle.
