Two registered deaths from confirmed or suspected Covid-19 last week brings total to 4,231

Two people have died from  coronavirus  across Scotland in the last week.

As of September 6, there have been a total of 4,231 deaths registered where  Covid-19  was mentioned on the death certificate.

The weekly figures, released by the National Records for Scotland (NRS), account for all deaths where coronavirus was mentioned on the death certificate and are separate to the hospital deaths announced daily by the  Scottish Government  every day.

NRS figures also include all suspected and probable cases of the virus.

In the week, August 31 to September 6, there were two deaths where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

It was a reduction of five from the previous week, August 24 to 30.

Both of these deaths took place in hospital.

The latest figures come after local lockdown restrictions were extended to cover East Dunbartonshire and Renfrewshire on Monday.

The two council areas have joined the people of Glasgow, East Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire who were banned from mixing in each other’s houses last week.

The UK government have also announced new restrictions for people in England as cases continue to rise south of the border.

From Monday, those in England cannot meet up in groups of more than six.
