Two men plead guilty over $100,000 Tomago copper wire theft

TWO men have pleaded guilty over the theft of more than $100,000 worth of copper wire at Tomago.

Port Stephens-Hunter police began investigating on Monday after the wire was reported missing from an industrial site.

Investigators were called to a storage shed on Tomago Road about 6pm on Wednesday after security reported unauthorised people on the premises.

Police arrested 32-year-old Jake Anthony Wright and 41-year-old Cameron John Forbes.

Wright was charged with the break and enter of a house or dwelling with intent to steal - he pleaded guilty to the charge at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Thursday.

Forbes was charged with the break and enter of a dwelling-house with intent (steal) and break and enter house and steal items with a value equal to or greater than $60,000 - he pleaded guilty to both charges in the same court.

Wright will be sentenced on January 18, after Forbes is sentenced on December 2.
