Two Rams make top 50 merchandise sales list, Goff behind Minshew

After a remarkable turnaround in 2017 and a Super Bowl appearance the following season, the Los Angeles Rams quickly became a team that everyone wanted to watch. Their high-scoring offense paired with Aaron Donald on the defensive side of the ball turned them into one of the better squads in the NFC.

That hasn’t translated to merchandise sales, though. The NFLPA released its list of the top 50 sellers in the league from March 1-November 30, 2019, and only two Rams were represented.

Todd Gurley was No. 23 in merchandise sales last year, and Jared Goff barely cracked the list at No. 50 – one spot behind Phillip Lindsay.

Goff was also two spots behind retired tight end Rob Gronkowski, and four behind Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles. Even Gardner Minshew, who didn’t become a starter until mid-September, outsold Goff last year and was No. 42 on the merchandise sales list.

Noticeably absent is two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron Donald. Defensive tackles don’t typically sell many jerseys, but surely one would expect Donald to be one of the 50 most popular players in the NFL.

The top-selling player was 2018 NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, followed by Tom Brady, Ezekiel Elliott and Baker Mayfield. Khalil Mack was the top-ranked defensive player at No. 6.
