Two inmates at maximum-security HMP Belmarsh have been charged with the murder of a fellow prisoner.

Steven Hilden and Terry Jocham, both 28, are accused of beating to death 36-year-old Sundeep Ghuman, their cell mate, at the south London prison last month.

Mr Ghuman, from Bexley, was found with head injuries by prison guards at around 8pm on February 18 after a suspected assault.

He was rushed to hospital but died the following day.

Hilden and Jocham, who were both prisoners at Belmarsh, were charged last week with the murder, Met Police announced on Friday.

They are both due to appear at Bromley magistrates court this morning.

No pleas have yet been entered.
