Irish police are questioning a man in connection with the mugging of three schoolchildren in Limerick.
The two boys and a girl were walking to their local school in the south-western city on Monday morning when they were approached by a man at a passageway near a boat club at about 8.30am. It is believed he may have been carrying a weapon or led the children to believe that he was carrying a weapon.
Gardaí are investigating reports that the man took the pupils’ mobile phones and an amount of cash during the robbery. Although the three were uninjured they were threatened during the robbery, gardaí said.
A 20-year-old man was later arrested by gardaí and is being questioned at Mayorstone garda station.
