Two police officers chasing 'stolen' car hospitalised as pursuit ends in crash

Two police officers in pursuit of a suspected stolen vehicle were taken to hospital after their car chase ended in a crash.

Cops were in the middle of the chase when they collided with another vehicle at the city junction of Egghill Lane and Frogmill Road in Frankley, a village in Worcestershire.

Pictures from the incident on Friday show the patrol car with significant front-end damage.

Two officers and the driver of the other vehicle were all taken to hospital as a precaution after the collision.

All three were said to have suffered only minor injuries.

West Midlands Police are now investigating the circumstances of the crash.

The force's Professional Standards Department has been informed.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "A police vehicle in pursuit of a suspected stolen vehicle was in collision with another car at the junction of Egghill Lane and Frogmill Road, Frankley, at about 9.40pm on Friday (12 February).

"Two officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital and the driver of the other car was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

"No arrests were made.

"The full circumstances of the collision are now being investigated. The force’s Professional Standards Department has been informed, as is routine in such matters.
