Two 'pocket-sized' cruise ships to visit Liverpool for the first time

Two first-time visitors can be seen at the Liverpool cruise terminal over the weekend.

Today (Saturday) the World Voyager will be here as part of a 17-day trip around the British Isles. The vessel, owned by Stuttgart-based Nicko Cruises, is one of the smaller cruise liners and is described as a "small expedition ship."

The ship carries a maximum of 200 passengers with 109 crew members. This, says Nicko Cruises, "allows for a personal atmosphere and ensures a relaxed feeling from the first moment. No hustle and bustle during shore excursions, no queuing at the buffet, no crowding on the sun deck for the best possible view."

With a length of only 126m, the World Voyager can also dock in small ports that cannot be approached by the large ocean cruisers. One special highlight is the observation deck. From here, the best sunrises and sunsets as well as natural spectacles can be observed.

The World Voyager is due to depart from Liverpool at 9pm for its next destination at Waterford in the Republic of Ireland.

On Monday (August 22) another inaugural visitor to the Liverpool cruise terminal is World Navigator, operated by the Florida-based Atlas Ocean Voyages. This is described as an "intimate-sized" ship which has capacity for just under 200 guests.

The ship has just under 100 suites and staterooms that range in size and spaciousness, but all with "cinematic ocean views." The ship is currently on an 11-day, one-way trip from Leith-Edinburgh to Hamburg, Germany, and is due to arrive in Liverpool at around 7.30am from Dublin, departing at 8pm for the Isle of Wight.
