Two players Bruno Fernandes 'wants Man Utd to sign' in summer transfer window

Bruno Fernandes has reportedly told Manchester United to sign two players as they look to tie him down to a new contract.

The Red Devils have made huge steps forward under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Premier League, with second-place looking in the bag.

An early exit from the Champions League was a disappointing start to the season but they can go on to win the Europa League this month against Villarreal.

However, United have their sights set on bigger prizes next season with Fernandes set to be the star man.

The Portugal international has been a revelation this year, scoring 27 and assisting 17 in all competitions and is the favourite to scoop the PFA Player of the Year award.

It has led to negotiations opening over a new contract for the 26-year-old that will see him double his wages, worth £200,000-a-week, according to The Sun.

But before he puts pen to paper, Fernandes wants United to splash the cash in the summer transfer window to take the club to the next level.

The Sun further report that the former Sporting Lisbon star has requested a ball-playing centre-back to be deployed next to Harry Maguire.

He believes that having someone with fine passing ability at the back will allow him to concentrate more on his duties up the pitch.

The next signing Fernandes has demanded is a defensive midfielder, a position Solskjaer wants to strengthen in the summer window.

There have been a number of targets touted for both roles - including Villarreal star Pau Torres, who the club will face in the Europa League final.

But the Spaniard is not the only defender being eyed, with Real Madrid ace Raphael Varane and Sevilla's Jules Kounde also being monitored.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice is among the targets at Old Trafford but West Ham are desperate to keep hold of the England international.
