Two planes involved in collision in fog at East Midlands Airport

Two planes on the ground at East Midlands Airport collided this morning, Tuesday April 30.

The incident happened when a moving plane made contact with a stationary plane in the area used for picking up passengers.

No passengers were on board either aircraft.

A spokesman for East Midlands Airport said: "A taxiing aircraft made contact with a stationary aircraft this morning on the central passenger apron at East Midlands Airport.

"There were no passengers on either aircraft and no-one has been injured. Flights are continuing as scheduled."

A member of the public sent the photo below through which shows two aircraft in close proximity.

Jason Gwynn said he didn't see the incident, but confirmed that it took place at around 7.30am.
