Two people taken to hospital with major trauma injuries after serious crash in Radcliffe

A motorcyclist and his passenger were taken to hospital with major trauma injuries following a crash in Radcliffe last night.

The accident, involving a car and a motorcycle, happened on New Road at the junction with Stand Lane and Radcliffe New Road at around 9pm.

Police, two ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and a land vehicle from the air ambulance were all sent to the scene.

Two patients were taken to hospital with major trauma injuries, a spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said.

In a statement, NWAS said: “We were called at 21.15 last night to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

“We attended with two ambulances, a land resource from the air ambulance and two rapid response vehicles.

“Two patients were taken to hospital both with major trauma injuries.”

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News , a witness described the scene shortly after.

He said: "It happened just after 9pm. The car and bike were both in the middle of the crossroad.

"The gentleman on the bike was able to get up and move around, however the lady on the bike was on the ground till around 10pm as they decided against moving her.

"Traffic was backed up across Radcliffe as the crossroads was closed."
