Two people taken to hospital after three-vehicle crash on busy Newcastle road

Two people have been taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash in Newcastle.

A blue Skoda Fabia, red Vauxhall Mokka and a silver Vauxhall Corsa collided on Fossway, Walker.

Emergency services were called to the incident, near Millers Dene Football Club, at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

The road was closed between Westbourne Avenue and Courtfields Road while emergency services worked to recover the vehicles.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We dispatched two double crew ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.

“Two patients were transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.”

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said the injuries were believed to be minor.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews to the scene.

The road was reopened by 4.45pm.
