Two people taken to hospital after three-vehicle crash in Wallsend

Two people have been taken to hospital after being injured in a crash in Wallsend.

The A186 Station Road was closed for around one hour while emergency services dealt with the collision on Saturday afternoon.

Police and paramedics were called to the road at around 2.30pm following the three vehicle crash between North Road and Atkinson Terrace.

The ambulance service confirmed two people had been taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington and one patient had sustained chest injuries.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said it is believed the injuries suffered were minor.

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service added: "We were called to a three vehicle road traffic collision and sent two ambulances.

"Two patients have been taken to Cramlington Hospital, one with chest injuries."

The road was reopened shortly before 3.30pm after the debris was cleared from the carriageway.
