Two people taken to hospital after 'carbon monoxide leak' at house in Radford

Two people were taken to hospital after a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a house in Radford.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Radford Boulevard - between Denman Street Central and Ilkeston Road - following reports of a gas leak on Sunday night (September 8).

A spokeswoman for Cadent, the UK's leading gas distributor, said officials were called out at 7.48pm by the emergency services.

She said there had been a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a property.

"We cut off the gas supply and made safe," she said.

Seven people were evacuated from two properties as a precaution.

A spokeswoman for East Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed two people were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre.

She said: “We received a call at 6.56pm on September 8 to Radford Boulevard in . The caller reported that there had been gas leak.

"We sent our Hazardous Area Response Team, a paramedic in an ambulance car and two crewed ambulances.

"Two patients were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre.”

A Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Two fire engines from Stockhill were called at 7pm to reports of a gas leak on Radford Boulevard.

"Seven people were evacuated from two properties as a precaution whilst firefighters checked the gas levels.

"Two people were taken to hospital.

"Cadent were called to cap the gas in both properties.

"Firefighters had left the scene by 8.48pm."

A cordon was set up and and traffic was diverted.

By 9pm the road reopened, police confirmed.
