Fire crews and emergency services were called to a fire at a house near Hyson Green.
The incident happened in Bateman Gardens, near Hyson Green around 8.41pm on Sunday, September 8.
The fire started in the kitchen and crews believe it was caused by a "faulty cooking appliance".
Two people were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, the fire service confirmed.
A witness who wished to remain anonymous said: "I heard sirens looked out the front and smoke was covering the street and a fire engine came flying up the hill.
"A local resident stated a kitchen had blown up, fire crews took minutes to get the blaze under control and left the scene within an hour.
"Later a second engine also attended the scene along with a paramedic and two ambulance crews."
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from London Road were called at 8.41pm to a three storey house fire on Bateman Gardens, Bobber’s Mill.
"The fire was located in the kitchen on the ground floor and is believed to have been caused by a faulty cooking appliance.
"Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Two people were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
"The incident had been dealt with by 9.30pm."
