Two people seriously injured after car lands on roof on A66

The A66 was closed for several hours overnight after a serious collision involving a single vehicle.

Police were called to reports of a one vehicle collision shortly after 10pm on Sunday between Long Newton and Little Burdon.

The crash involved a blue Volkswagen Polo which is believed to have hit the central reservation and then landed on its roof.

Two people suffered serious injuries while the other three passengers received minor injuries.

The road was closed for around eight hours until just after 6am on Monday.

Police officers are now appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage of this incident is being asked to call the police Accident Unit on 101 quoting incident number 431 of August 15.
