Elderly man fighting for his life after three-vehicle horror smash in Dollar

An elderly man is fighting for his life after a serious three-vehicle crash in Dollar.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the A91 in Clackmannanshire at around 6.15pm on Monday after reports of a collision involving two cars and a van.

The 78-year-old man driver of the Vauxhall involved was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An ambulance crew also rushed the 56-year-old driver of an Audi to Forth Valley Royal Hospital after he was seriously hurt. His injuries have not been described as not life threatening.

The 48-year-old behind the wheel of the Volkswagen involved was uninjured in the crash.

Police closed the road for more than five hours while emergency crews were in the area.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area until it reopened at 1.45am on Tuesday.

Inspector Andrew Thomson of the Road Policing Unit said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and would urge anyone with information to come forward.

"In particular we would like to speak to anyone who saw any of the vehicles involved before the crash.

"Any information can be passed to police by calling 101, quoting incident 2991 of March 2.”
