Two people rushed to hospital after smash involving police car and BMW in Glasgow

Two people were rushed to hospital after a smash involving a police car and BMW on a Scots road.

The collision took place on Alderman Road in Glasgow, at its junction with Dyke Road, at around 8.40pm on Friday, February 11.

It's understood the officers, who were in a marked police car, had been en route to an emergency call when the crash happened.

The cop car collided with a BMW 3-Series on the busy road.

A female passenger in the police vehicle was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she was treated for injuries and later discharged.

A 29-year-old man, the driver of the BMW, was also taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police say enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40pm on Friday, 11 February, 2022, a marked police vehicle was travelling to an emergency call when it was involved in a crash with a BMW 3-Series car while on Alderman Road at its junction with Dyke Road in Glasgow.

“The female passenger from the police vehicle was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for injuries and later discharged. The 29-year-old male driver of the BMW was also taken to Queen Elizabeth university Hospital for treatment

“No-one else was injured as a result of the crash and the road was closed while the cars were recovered.

“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.”
