Two people rushed to hospital after horror three-vehicle crash on Scots road

Two people have been rushed to hospital after a horror crash on a Scots road.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the three-vehicle smash on the A76 near Bellfield Interchange in Kilmarnock at around 5.35pm on Thursday evening.

Police closed the road and ambulance crews rushed two casualties, a driver and passenger from one of the cars, to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

It's not believed their injuries are life-threatening.

A 24-year-old man has been charged and issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice in connection with the smash.

The road reopened shortly after 7pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to the A71, near Bellfield Interchange, around 5.35pm following a report of a crash involving three cars.

"Road closures were put in place and removed shortly after 7pm.

"Two people, a driver and passenger from one of the cars, have been taken to hospital.

"A 24-year-old man has been charged and issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice in connection with this.”
