Rescuers pulled two people from the River Tyne within the space of 12 hours.
Lifeboat crews were first called to the Tyne Bridge area at around 8.30pm on Friday and pulled one person from the water.
The Tynemouth Volunteer Lifeboat Brigade (TVLB) and Tynemouth RNLI both attended, along with police, fire and ambulance services.
A spokesperson for TVLB said: "One person was recovered from the water and taken to hospital."
Their condition is not yet known.
Services were then called to the river, near the Millennium Bridge , at around 8.15am on Saturday.
"Team members arrived on scene and were present till around 9.00am at which point the casualty was taken into police care," the spokesperson said.
" Northumbria Police , the North East Ambulance Service and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were all in attendance at this callout."
