Weekend of bloodshed in London: Two people murdered and seven others stabbed within 72 hours

A spate of violent crimes in London over the weekend has left two people dead and another fighting for their life.

Emergency services responded to six separate incidents between Friday, June 5 and the early hours of Monday, June 8.

Woman, 19, murdered in Finchley

The Met Police have launched a murder investigation after a 19-year-old woman was found dead following an apparent shooting.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service called police to reports of gunshots at a house in Dale Grove at around 00.15am on Monday.

Police have yet to make any arrests.

Singer-songwriter Talay Riley stabbed to death in Silvertown

Singer-songwriter Talay Riley was found by paramedics with stab wounds in the garden of a property in Rayleigh Road, Silvertown, on Friday morning.

Despite their efforts to save his life, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

After signing a publishing deal at the age of 18, the R&B and pop singer gained mainstream attention on Chipmunk's 2009 single, Look For Me,

Talay, whose real name was Mark Orabiyi, was most influential as a songwriter, penning tracks for the likes of Dua Lipa and Britney Spears.

Another man in his 20s was also treated for multiple stab wounds and remains in hospital, though his injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of murder following Riley’s death. A 27-year-old man has since been released on bail pending further enquiries, while a second man, and woman, 25, have been released with no further action.

Tributes have poured in on social media after news of Riley’s death broke on Sunday. His family described him as “a beautiful spirit and remarkable talent”, adding that “his presence touched many lives and his memory will remain in our hearts forever.”

London-born rapper Stormzy wrote on the post: “I’m sorry bro”, while singer Craig David wrote: “Sending so much love to you & the family. His beautiful energy will continue to be felt & shown from the other side.”

Investigations into Riley’s death are ongoing and continuing “at pace”, according to Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the Met’s investigation.

Edmonton Green stabbing

On the same day (Friday, June 5), a man was taken to hospital after a stabbing near Edmonton Green railway station.

Police were first called out to reports of an assault on Church Street at around 1.45am.

A 29 year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds, which have been confirmed as non-life threatening.

The Met Police said on Friday that no arrests had been made following the attack.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police on 101, quoting CAD537/5JUN or Crimestoppers anonymously.

Enfield stabbing near local pub

At around 1.30am on Saturday, June 6, a man in his 30s was treated for a stab wound near a pub in Enfield.

A second man in his 30s was also treated for minor injuries at the location, but was not believed to have suffered stab wounds.

Both men were treated at hospital where they remain in a non-life threatening condition.

No arrests have been made.

Hertford Road near Stainton Road remained cordoned off on Saturday with police at the scene until Sunday.

The Lion pub shared a statement on Sunday to confirm it would be closed following an incident outside of its operating hours. It said it would reopen when it was able to do so.

Anyone who witnessed the assault should contact police on 101, quoting 606/06JUN or call Crimestoppers anonymously.

Triple stabbing in Barking

A triple stabbing after an reported music event in Barking left one man fighting for his life.

Police were called to River Road on June 6 at 11.20pm to reports of a large fight.

Three men, aged, 22, 23, and 28 were taken to hospital with stab wounds. The 22-year-old remains in critical condition.

The other two men were discharged and taken into police custody, though the 23-year-old has since been returned to hospital after becoming unwell.

Chief Inspector Mo Mahmood told Sky News it was “an isolated incident”, but police patrols would remain in the area over the coming days.

Many people are believed to have been in the vicinity at the time, with the Met appealing for witnesses or those with dash cam footage to come forward.

Man hospitalised after Poplar stabbing

In Poplar, a man in his 20s was found with stab injuries on June 6.

Police were called to Ricardo Street on Saturday at around 7.45pm to reports of the assault.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as investigations into the assault continue.

According to Met Police data analysed by the Standard, there was a total of 1,130 knife crime offences in April 2026. This was down by 84 compared to the month before, but a rise on the 1,009 knife crime offences recorded in February 2026.
