Two people killed after minibus and lorry collide in Cornwall

Two people have died following a collision between a minibus and a lorry in Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the crash happened on the A3888 at Launceston on Wednesday morning.

A woman in her sixties, from Callington, and a man in his sixties, from the Liskeard area, who were travelling in the minibus died at the scene.

Their next of kin have been informed.

Three other people also travelling in the minibus sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the HGV, a man in his sixties from the St Austell area, was uninjured and will attend a “voluntary attendance interview” in due course, the Devon and Cornwall force said.

"Officers from Devon and Cornwall RPT alongside Collision investigation and scenes of crime officers and specialist Commercial vehicle officers attended the scene and the road was closed for several hours to allow a thorough investigation and safe recovery of both vehicles," it added in a statement.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information about it is asked by Devon and Cornwall Police to call 101, quoting 232 3/6/20.
