Two people in hospital after ultralight plane crash in Hopeland, on Perth's outskirts

The aircraft came down around 10:00am on Sunday. (ABC News)

An ultralight plane with two people on board has crash-landed in a field in Hopeland on the outskirts of Perth.

A man, 77, and a woman, 65, have been taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Firefighters and police rushed to the scene near Yangedi Road, which runs alongside the Serpentine Airfield.

Video footage from the crash site shows only one of the plane's wings is still attached.

The incident took place about 10:00am on Sunday.

It is the second incident of its type in Perth in less than a month.

About three weeks ago, a light plane ditched into the ocean off a popular Perth beach.

Both the pilot and his passenger escaped with minor injuries.
