Two people hospitalised after car crashes into Ayrshire field and flips onto its roof

Two people have been taken to hospital after a car ended up on its roof in a field near Ayr earlier this week.

Emergency services rushed to the scene off the A70 between Ayr and Coylton on Sunday night.

The blue vehicle remained near the roadside during Monday and Tuesday sealed off by tape but has now been removed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a one-vehicle crash on the A70 near the Holmston roundabout at around 9.50pm on Sunday, March 28. Two people were taken to hospital.”

The condition of the two people involved in the crash has not been disclosed.

A 19-year-old man tragically lost his life on the same stretch of road in December after his car collided with a tree at Coylton.

Conservative Ayr West councillor Derek McCabe said: "Sadly there are a lot of accidents on this road. I used to drive the road daily when I lived in Coylton."
