Two people found by Mountain Rescue crew after getting lost in Brecon Beacons

Two walkers had to be rescued by mountain rescue workers in the Brecon Beacons after becoming lost near the Sgwd Einion Gam waterfall.

The pair had lost their way near the Afon Pyrddin on Monday evening.

South Wales police alerted Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team shortly after 7.30pm and they were able to locate the pair and return them to safety.

A tweet from Wester Beacons Mountain Rescue Team on Monday night said: We were called by South Wales Police to find and rescue two pedestrians.

“They lost their way near the Pryddin Afon above Sgwd Einon Gam. Team members were able to find and return them. Everyone home by 10:30!”

According to mountain.rescue.org.uk, there were 3,080 Mountain Rescue call-outs in England and Wales in 2020.

Of those, 258 were in the south Wales region. People hill walking make up over three-quarters of Mountain Rescue call-outs.
