Two people die with coronavirus in Bristol

Two further coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in Bristol, the latest figures show.

The Department of Health's data also reveals another 71 cases have been recorded across Bristol and it's neighbouring areas over the past 24 hours - a slight increase compared to yesterday's 66.

Bristol's coronavirus rate per 100,000 people has fallen to 74.7 after 346 cases were confirmed over a seven day period (between February 20 to 27).

Our rate is now slightly below the national average of 86.4.

South Gloucestershire's Covid rate has dropped to 58.6, while North Somerset's is 49.8, and Bath and North Somerset's is one of the lowest in the UK, with 35.7.

Breakdown of positive test results

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

  • Bath and North East Somerset - 8,025 (+13)

  • Bristol - 29,625 (+35)

  • North Somerset - 9,701 (+ eight)

  • South Gloucestershire - 14,617 (+15)

UK figures

A further 242 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the UK.

It is down by around 35% on Thursday last week - when 323 fatalities were announced.

Meanwhile the 6,573 new Covid cases announced today is also far lower than last Thursday, when 9,985 were declared.
