Two people die in M8 fire following horror car crash in Glasgow

Two people tragically died in a horror car crash fire on the M8 in Glasgow yesterday.

A white coloured BMW went up in flames after it collided with a crash barrier at around 2.40pm on the eastbound carriageway.

Emergency services raced to the scene following reports of the incident, however the two occupants in the car, a 54-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were sadly both pronounced dead.

Shocking pictures from the accident showed a huge ball of flames engulfing the car.

A thick plume of black smoke billowed into the air as firefighters tackled the raging flames.

The road was closed for several hours whilst police carried out their investiagtions.

Cops are now appealing for anyone who may have any information to get in touch.

Chief Inspector Darren Faulds of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of those involved with this tragic incident.

“Our enquiries are ongoing into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and we would ask that if anyone was in the area and witnessed the crash that they contact Police Scotland.

“I would also ask that if anyone has any possible dash-cam footage of the area at that time, to get in touch with police.

“Anyone wishing to pass on any information can contact police on the 101 number, quoting incident number 2002 of 18 October.”
