Two people dead following tragic Dublin road crash on Butterfield Avenue, Templeogue

Two people have died following a tragic early morning road crash in south Dublin.

A man and woman were tragically killed when the car they were travelling in hit a lamppost on Butterfield Avenue, Templeogue at 1:30am.

The pair were removed to Tallaght University Hospital and the incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman for examination.

Traffic diversions are in place with AA Roadwatch saying: "A road closure is in place on Butterfield Ave in Rathfarnham near the Old Bridge Rd junction as Gardai deal with a serious collision."
